A year ago already! Had a lot of fun sketching with Urban Sketchers at the Chicago Symposium July 2017. One morning on my own I did a little painting of Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park:
Paul Wang’s (from Singapore) workshop was situated almost under the el tracks, structures I kept coming back to photograph that week. Here’s my sketch from the workshop:
Maru Godas’ (from Barcelona) workshop, “Gouache Like a Child,” was way fun and inspirational. Here’s my quick sketch in gouache from over the railroad yard:
James Richards’s workshop was in front of the Art Institute. I got my architectural thing going on in this sketch (pardon the lavender-hued photo shot in the shade):
My last workshop was with architect William Cordero (from Costa Rica) at a farmers market and using collage:
Four inspiring artists whose work I’ve admired for some time. Chicago was fun for me since I spent a lot of time wandering around my old haunts and photographing so much architecture. Love that city. Hate the weather, but love the city and the people.
